“Wait a minute. Wade is a nickname?”
Preston’s incredulous tone made Wade smile, but I cut him off before he could answer.
“We’ll get back to that in a second.” I waved my hand as if that could make Preston’s question disappear. “I need to know something else first. So you’re saying that you were practicing a water rescue and then Liam really started to drown?”
Wade nodded.
I gasped and clutched at my chest. “What did you do?”
Wade’s expression turned confused. “Saved him.”
“Of course, you did.” I swooned. My new man was a bona fide hero. He saved people from downing. “Did he need CPR? Oh! I can help you practice. I could be a drowning victim in need of saving! But I’m gonna demand mouth-to-mouth.”
“Sawyer.” Preston sounded a little agitated.
“What?” I gave him my best innocent look. We were seated at a small square table; he and I sat across from each other so Wade could be between us. Where he belonged.
