I poked him in the back of his calf. “We’ll wait to eat until you’re done here. Preston said it would be something that could keep.”
Wade glanced at me but didn’t say anything as he pulled out his phone. He tapped out a text, then returned the phone to his pocket. Then he stepped behind me, pressing his shins into my back. I leaned against him, letting his heat soak into me.
A few minutes later, Drew jogged up the beach and skidded to a halt next to us. He was grinning, and Greg went nuts, hopping and bouncing, demanding attention. Drew immediately gave it to him, rubbing him hard and proclaiming he was the best puppy. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Leave me Neptune, too, just in case,” Drew said, not taking his gaze off the dog. “I’ll take care of the boys and close up the boathouse and everything.”
