Chapter 26

“My God,” Margot says to him, “you have more questions than Hannes. I didn’t think that was possible.”

“Oh, sorry,” he says, trying to restrain his enthusiasm.

“Don’t be. I like curious people.” When she passes by me on her way to the office, she stops and whispers in my ear. “Wherever did you find him? He’s the most adorable person I’ve met in my life.” She laughs and wanders off before I have time to reply.

The morning hours are slow like they usually are, so we have a lot of time to talk between the occasional customer. He asks insightful questions about the apothecary and sighs happily as he tastes the tea. “This is lovely,” he says, bouncing on his toes, his nose twitching rapidly.
