“Oh.” Noah considered this for a moment, then slowly nodded. He trusted Gabe.
“Finish your chocolate, and then we’ll be about it.”
Noah nodded again, still slowly, so the room wouldn’t spin, and took another sip.
Eventually the hot chocolate was all gone, and Noah set the cup aside, feeling at least slightly better as the hot beverage melted the ice at his core. “Okay. Now what?”
“Simply look at me,” said Gabe softly. Noah lifted his gaze and met Gabe’s dark eyes. They caught him, and he found himself suddenly transfixed. “Remember,” said Gabe, his voice still soft, but intense. “Remember earlier tonight. Remember the vampire you met.”
Noah felt the world blurring, melting around him, and suddenly images were playing in his mind, vividly, almost as if he were literally reliving what had happened.
