Chapter 23

“Thanks.”

A few minutes later Jack was dressed and out the door. Gabe was still sprawled shirtless in the bed. Noah, sitting beside him, looked down at him. He felt his cheeks heating as he took in Gabe’s appearance. “Thanks again, really,” he said.

“Given that my presence caused last night’s trouble, you should hardly be thanking me. If you hadn’t met me, Simon would have had no reason to bother you.”

Gabe looked so distressed that Noah had to reach out and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “Hey, it’s not your fault that you have a crazy ex chasing after you. Or if it is, blame half the people in the world for similar situations.”

Gabe smiled slightly, but said, “Most people’s ‘crazy exes’ haven’t gotten anyone killed, though.”

“That’s still not your fault.” Noah squeezed his shoulder.

Gabe looked up at Noah, then said, “I suppose.”

“I’m still very glad you two came to get me.”
