“Because you know how you get, Micah. You’re a giver. You go all in. And it’s beautiful. But this time, the stakes are high. Higher than they’ve ever been. That’s all I’m gonna say. And you know it’s coming from a place of love.”

“I know…” I sighed and stepped down my stairs. “But I’m telling you right now—I’m like a moth to a flame with him.”

“Yeah, well, we all get like that at one time or another.” Nash paused and then added, “And speaking of moths to flames, Jenna told me that Doctor Beneventi’s divorce came through. I’m stepping up my game. He won’t know what hit him.”

I couldn’t help laughing. “Nurse Reirdan, you have a one track mind.”

After we’d talked a little more and hung up, I walked down Saint-Laurent, heading for the Knight store. The walk cleared my head, and by the time I was at the front door, I was a little calmer. I checked the store through the dark pane glass. Louie was behind the counter, busy with a group of customers.
