Someone knocked on his door, and after a second Reid let himself in. Cameron frowned. These guys were supposed to be respecting his privacy, but here was Reid disturbing him in his studio. “What’s up?” he asked, spinning his chair to face Reid.
“I was hoping we could talk privately.” One corner of Reid’s mouth quirked up. “It wasn’t going so well when Jason was with us.”
“He’s a dick.” Cameron stood up and walked over to the window. Yeah, he’d absolutely drawn his own backyard, all right. He shook his head.
“He’s not always the gentlest soul. He’s been a good friend to me, though. It’s not easy for him. Wolves are pack animals. It’s hard for him to be away from his own kind like this.”
Of course. Jason got to invade Cameron’s house and treat him like crap, but it was Jason who needed understanding and compassion. “Maybe they’d have kept him around if he didn’t have the personality of a cactus.” Cameron squinted at the lawn.
Reid moved closer. “Did something happen last night?”
