Chapter 53

Cameron pulled back, confused. “I came and got you, of course. Mrs. Shaladi turns out to have been a doctor back in Libya. She sewed you up. I didn’t know how long it would take you to heal, or if you would heal on your own from something like—”

Jason waved a hand. “Yeah, yeah. Of course I’d heal eventually. Getting stitches helped. But youcame out and dragged me back?” He scowled and gestured at Cameron. “Like, by yourself? That’s one of the dumbest things you’ve ever done!”

“I’m stronger than I look.” Cameron stood up. “I killed two of the bastards, you know. With a crowbar. And without letting them touch you. And that’s before I figured out another way to get rid of them, at least temporarily. So I guess I am good for more than a roll in the hay.” God, Cameron had been so stupid, thinking that Jason saw him as anything more. “I’m glad you’re feeling better. I’ll bring your bag upstairs; I’m sure you’ll feel more comfortable in something of your own.”
