Chapter 11

The attendant took our tickets and he led us across the colorful carpet to the concession area. “Are you hungry?” he asked. I really wasn’t, but I thought I’d try to eat something.

“How about some Raisinets?” I offered.

He gave me a big smile. “We’ll make it two. Bottled water?” I nodded.

We joined a short line, got our concessions, and headed to the appropriately numbered room to watch our movie. Ishmael and I sat in the back. He placed his arm around my shoulders, and I leaned against him, feeling comfortable. From time to time during the flick, he would play with my ponytail or lean over to kiss me on the cheek. The whole thing made me nervous, in a good way. I enjoyed the attention, but I wasn’t so distracted that I didn’t watch the movie. It was good.
