Chapter 13

“What joke?” Tim mimicked. “You know very well what joke. Who was that and why did he answer your phone?”

I let my keys fall out of my hands into the bowl, annoyed at all the questions.

“What does it matter who I was with and what I was doing with him? We aren’t together, and you told me to move on.” My lunch with Kellan was too perfect a moment, and I certainly didn’t want Tim to spoil it.

“Well, you know he can’t come around here, right? At least not to fuck.”

I was about halfway to my room when Tim made that statement. I really tried not to get sucked into his rage, but the fact that Tim actually put an ultimatum on me stopped me dead in my tracks.

“Look, let’s get one thing straight. You lost the right to tell me what I can or cannot do when you decided to play around on me. Even when we were together, you didn’t own me, and you sure as hell don’t own me now. You get to bring your man over, so why can’t I? I pay more than half the rent, and all of the bills.”
