Chapter 16

Praying he wasn’t about to regret his decision, Keston placed his hand in Ness’s, and there was the jolt he expected, a warm tingle to his very core. “I’ll be okay, Molly. He’s uh.” Keston cast around for the right answer, getting to his feet. “He’s a friend I’ve recently become reacquainted with.”

Astute, Molly shifted her gaze between the two of them, not buying his lie for a second. Yet as a child, what could she do? “Okay, if you say so.” Then she threw a glare at Ness, hands on her hips. “But just so you know, I’ll be in the hall and if I have to, I’ll get my mom so you better behave yourself.”

With a hand to his chest and that award winning, ever so charming smile, Ness said, “aye, ye need not worry. I wish to have a few words with Keston. I mean him all the best.”
