Lake lifted one hand and held it out, palm toward him. Stop. “I think that Scanning is only part of your Estrangement, Eddie. And no, I didn’t know before. And no, I don’t think anybody did. It’s starting to make sense to me now, though.” Lake didn’t explain further. He turned his attention to Zunella and asked, “Do I dare to use the word Balancer?”
Zunella merely nodded, apparently dumbstruck.
