“I still need Agency resources to keep you safe until Kuznetsova is out of your hair. Probably Jamal too, although he should go away once we’ve dealt with her.”

Lennon bit his lip as they walked into the lobby. They didn’t want to talk about this kind of thing in a public area like the lobby or elevator. It was one thing to discuss it while they were walking outside, but the lobby could be bugged.

When they got safely to the apartment, Ben took him into the bedroom where there weren’t any listening devices. “Anyway,” he said, picking up where he’d left off, “I’m still going to need to use Townsend’s know-how, and some of the Agency’s other resources. We’ll have to see what we can do.”

Lennon sat down on the bed. Ben’s words had sucked the life right out of him. “I’m not giving in,” he said after a moment. “I won’t sit there and design weapons for them. I won’t let my work be used to hurt people. It’s not about being morally superior or whatever, it’s about making a choice—”
