Chapter 30

He stepped into the shower and slid the glass door shut. Bracing his hands on the tiled wall, he hung his head forward and let the warm water pour over him. Like fingers on his skin, the pounding water worked at the knots, removing the tension from the day and little by little he began to relax.

But knowing Lance was in his bedroom—their bedroom—just a few feet away wouldn’t allow him to relax completely

God, he’d tried to not care about Lance for so long, but he couldn’t do it. How could he when the man had stepped up to help his entire family? Avoiding him now wasn’t even an option, no matter how crushed he’d been when Lance had turned him down years ago.
