Chapter 33

“Let’s go,” she said briskly. “You’re only here one night, yeah? We’ve got to make it count. Girls’ night out.”

“Awesome!” Kayla exclaimed. “Let me just let Aaron know we’re leaving.” She bounced through to the living room to head upstairs, where Aaron had presumably sought refuge at some point during their exchange.

Anya cleared her throat and nudged her shoulder against Jack’s before leaving the room with Astrid in tow. Rob watched as they went through the front door without looking back. Kayla followed a few seconds later, throwing a small wave over her shoulder as she left.

As soon as the door shut behind her, Jack flipped up his middle finger.

“Good riddance,” he muttered. “Condescending shithead. Hope she chokes on her cheap ass tequila.”

He shook his head, then turned to Rob with a stiff smile stretched wide across his face. “Grab the vodka. I’ll get the weed. We can’t let them have all the fun!”
