“If you’re going to have a permanent Sunday night show, it’ll turn out to be my favorite day, too. Why don’t I swing by and pick you up around ten? That’ll give us a good part of the day, and then I’ll take you back to the Red Fin so I can watch your set again.”
“Ten sounds great. Oh. Bodie’s here early. I have to go.”
His mood swung back around to irritable again. Bodie. Of course. He kept his voice even, though. Gage had enough going on not to have to worry that the few friends he had might not get along.
“If anything changes, just call me. You still have my number, right?”
“You called me,” Gage said, sounding more than a little amused. “Now I’ve got your number in my memory.”
Jesus. The way he was acting, it would be a wonder if Gage didn’tcancel. Who wanted to hang out with such an idiot? “I think that lack of food is finally getting to me,” he said, trying to joke it off. Then, because he had to prove to himself he had to be an adult about this, “Tell Bodie I say hi.”
