“I want your free time,” he said. “If I win, you spend next Sunday helping me clear out and rearrange my storage lockers.”

“It’s amazing to me how you manage to make everything so boring. But you’re on. Next Sunday is yours if you win.”

He hid his pleased smile. Free help was always good, but the prospect of exhausting Bodie so he couldn’t go see Gage’s show that night was even better.

Rev waited for them on the corner by his apartment building, leaving it simple to pull up to the curb and let him climb in next to Bodie. When he heard about the volleyball match, however, he grimaced.

“I thought today was supposed to be fun,” he complained.

“It will be fun,” Christopher said. “Once Bodie has learned his place, once and for all.”

Rev leaned forward between the seats. “You don’t go for all this machismo bullshit, do you, Gage?”

“I guess I like a little competition as much as the next guy.”
