Chapter 24

“Zero to zero,” Bodie announced before throwing the ball straight up. He jumped high to meet it and put all his strength behind the hit.

For all Christopher’s talk, Bodie wasn’t actually a bad player. He believed in a power game, which, with Rev on his side, was a good strategy for this match. When it was clear he’d aimed for Gage, Christopher hung back. He needed to see how Gage handled the return before taking control.

His hit was solid but off-center, sending it careening back over the net at an angle straight for Bodie. Bodie cut in front of Rev to smash it back, but this time, neither Gage nor Christopher were swift enough to stop it from slamming into the sand.

Christopher scooped up the ball and tossed it back. “That was your freebie, Bodie.”

Bodie laughed good-naturedly as he caught the ball and stepped back to serve. “One serving zero.”
