And then Christopher’s thumb brushed against the bruised skin just below his jaw.

Gage started back, breaking free from the caress and almost hitting the cabinet they had just been discussing. “Oh, God. I’m sorry. I can’t.”

Christopher’s eyes were dark and unfocused, blinking once as Gage’s words sank in. His tongue swept over his swollen lower lip, and for a second, Gage swayed forward, wanting to taste him again, needing to be devoured. He only caught himself when Christopher said, “No. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have kissed you back.”

“Don’t do that, please. It was my fault. I kissed you. And…I’d kiss you again, except I promised Bodie…” Gage let his voice fade, unsure how he wanted to finish that sentence.

Mention of Bodie put steel back into Christopher’s stance, his shoulders squaring as he took a step away. “You said it was just fun.”
