“I’m definitely not that type. The condition of my games might make you faint in horror.”

“Seems appropriate for the game.” Trevor overly grinned at Chase, who rolled his eyes.

“That joke might make me faint in horror.”

Trevor gasped dramatically. “Oh no, don’t tell me you’re not a fan of puns!” He pressed the back of his wrist to his forehead.

“There is a time and a place,” Chase said dryly.

“Is the time ‘never’ and the place ‘nowhere’?” Trevor elbowed him lightly, then immediately yanked his arm away, although Chase didn’t flinch as much this time. Excellent, progress. “Sorry.”

Chase smiled—okay, grimaced was more accurate. “It’s fine.”

The words were tense, as if tightly wrapped around an emotion he was keeping contained.

“Oh look!” Trevor exclaimed, flourishing his hand down the block. “Wawa approaches.”

The strain on Chase’s lips snapped into a wide smile. “You’re so weird.”

“What? I thought I was showing you the sights.”
