Chapter 16

“Speaking of which.” He turned on his heels and marched over to pick up his smoothie. As he traded his slip of paper for the creamy treat, the reality of the past minute hit him.

What just happened? Did I lecture that woman on being rude? Holy shit, did I make a scene? Who all saw? Does Chase think I’m some confrontational asshole now?

He had to set the cup down before he spilled it across the floor. The worker behind the counter paid him no mind as she went about making the next order.

“You okay?”

Trevor looked up into Chase’s concerned face and blinked a few times. Was who okay?

“You’re kinda pale.”

Trevor blinked again. Oh. Him. Taking note of if he was okay, he noticed his heart was racing, his skin was clammy, and he was a little dizzy. But he wasn’t passed out on the floor, which honestly amazed him. He cleared his throat. “Yeah. Just…I’ve never done that before.”

The corners of Chase’s mouth quirked up in a smile. “Could have fooled me. You were harsh.”
