Chapter 30

“Ugh, same. Must be the pressure shifts,” Trevor said, seemingly oblivious to Chase’s embarrassment.

“Yeah. Uh, but if you want to hang out, I can skip the nap.” Chase sighed internally. Was this the most awkward conversation ever, or was it just him?

“I don’t want to rob you of your beauty sleep. Not that you need it. You’re pretty enough. I mean we can hang out if you want. I want to. That sounds good. Any plans?”

Chase would have been shocked by the words coming out of Trevor’s mouth if he’d not been bowled over by the rapid-fire sentences trying to wipe away each previous line. He blinked, tracking the flow until he reached the question at the end. And then his brain jumped right back to the beginning and he found himself asking, “You think I’m pretty?”

Of course he knew he was attractive, but in the same way he knew he was tall: something he was aware of in himself but didn’t realize other people noticed.
