Chapter 40

Chase tugged on his arm, laughter in his voice: “You’re redder than a tomato.”

Continuing his levels of suaveness and sophistication, Trevor nodded.

“Don’t worry, I can be that easy, if you earn it.” Chase pecked Trevor on the cheek, then quickly dragged him outside.

The chill air rushed over Trevor’s cheeks and down the collar of his coat, relieving some of the heat there. Overhead the sky was a crisp blue (not as gorgeous as Chase’s eyes) and streaked with sunshine. The trees lining the sidewalks through campus were bursting with reds, yellows, and oranges, all of it radiant.

“So, uh, that raises an interesting, um,” Trevor said, once they’d broken free of the campus crowds (and the risk of someone they knew overhearing). “We never really talked about, um, experience. Or how much we’ve dated.”

Chase shrugged, releasing Trevor’s hand to fiddle with the end of his braid, which was in its traditional spot over his shoulder. “Does it matter?”
