Chapter 79

Dexter’s heart, well, whatever remained of it, shriveled and quivered as he picked himself up to go see where he’d gone. One of Daisuke’s drawers was still open and half the clothes are gone.

“No…” Dexter’s face crumpled, panic wrapping its ugly arms around him. “Oh, God. No.”

Daisuke had warned him, straight in the beginning, when Dexter begged and pleaded for him to tell him about Colin. He told Dexter he’d leave if he fucked this up. If he hurt Colin.

And that’s what Dexter had done. He’d gone and fucked this straight to hell.

Dexter didn’t remember falling asleep. He didn’t even remember finding his way back to his room, let alone getting into his bed. But he woke up because someone had gotten into bed with him, crawling under the covers and wrapping their warm arms around him.

Still dazed and lightheaded, eyes still foggy and nose stuffed from crying, it took Dexter a few seconds to register who was there with him.

“Maddie?”
