Chapter 13

Sean sipped his water and looked around at the other diners, who all appeared to be couples or moresomes and all laughing. Stop thinking that way. He’s a kid. A gay kid, operating on gay time. He’ll be here. Sean scanned the front windows at all the people bustling by on Belmont, and not one of them was Arliss.

Arliss came in the door at 6:25. His blue eyes scanned the dining room, and when he saw Sean, he smiled. Oh my God, that smile could just about make me forgive him anything. Does he have any idea how beautiful he is?Arliss was dressed simply in a pair of jeans, a tight black T-shirt, and flip-flops. His hair and ruddy face bore a fresh-out-the-shower dampness and sheen that made Sean wonder how he would smell.

He didn’t have to wonder long. Arliss made a beeline for the table, and when he got there, bent down and kissed Sean on the lips. He smelled like soap.
