Chapter 15

“Proof enough?” Dustin asks, breaking the stillness. He takes a tissue out of his jacket pocket just in time, ready to catch the small trickle of blood.

“You’re bleeding.” Detective Hicks sounds worried.

“Which would be why I don’t pull out that trick often. Not just because of the headache.” Dustin grimaces, cleaning away the small amount of blood.

“You can move objects?” Ronan asks.

“Only metal and only small things. Even then, well, you can see for yourself, it’s not easy on my body and not something my neurologist recommends I do.”

“You see a neurologist?” Detective Hicks asks.

“I get headaches.” Dustin doesn’t want to go into it. It’s not like his powers are going to kill him, not like they once thought. Weekly scans had shown any damage seemed to heal once the pressure dissipates. But they will always cause him pain—a lot of pain.

“So a small amount of telekinesis and visions, anything else we should know?” Ronan asks.
