Chapter 17

“Thanks, I think. I do fine at crime scenes, though. I mean, people stare and whisper, but I figure they’d do that anyway; people find it kind of interesting to be around a psychic. Even cops—they’ll be wondering if I’m the real deal, what kind of powers I have, can I tell them if their wife is cheating, the usual.” Dustin shakes his head.

“This is my car.” Ronan points—it’s a nice-looking Ford, not like super fancy, but well looked after, no scratches or dents. Dustin would bet money that Ronan is a careful driver, probably never breaks the law.

Ronan unlocks his car, and they both get in the front. Ronan passes Dustin some files.

“Can you read while I drive? It might help you get caught up on the case. I’m taking us to Jamie Harvard’s house first. She’s the most recent to go missing.” Ronan fills Dustin in.

“I can read it. I saw some stuff online. They thought it was the boyfriend to start off with?” Dustin asks, opening the first file as Ronan pulls away from the curb.
