Chapter 36

“Which window?” Dustin can’t remember from the report. He’s read all ten, but that’s a lot of different facts to remember—ten women, ten lives, and ten crime scenes.

“That one.” Ronan points to a now closed window in the family room at the back of the house.

Dustin walks over to the window, and climbs up onto a chair so he can reach the lock. The moment he touches it it’s like he’s been shocked. His heart starts beating a mile a minute, and he sees it for the first time; the horrible twisted face of the Sanguisdemon. It has long, sharp teeth, mottled gray skin, and blood red eyes. Dustin hears it growl, and he hears a woman’s scream, and then he opens his eyes, and he’s back, standing on the chair, leaning against the window, but with Ronan holding firmly onto his waist with both his large, strong hands.

Dustin has to focus on the horrible images he saw not to get the world’s worst-timed boner, because the feeling of Ronan’s hands tight on his waist is really doing it for him.
