Chapter 58

“Yes, you did hit me,” Ronan complains—his face is throbbing.

“I’m so, so sorry. I will totally understand if you want me to leave your house or if you want to punch me in the face.” Dustin looks like a kicked puppy, and it makes Ronan want to do unspeakable things to him, which isn’t his usual reaction to that look.

“It’s fine. I’m not going to kick you out or hit you. It was an accident, right?” Ronan is pretty sure it was.

“Of course. I’d never hit a friend. I don’t ever hit people unless I’m defending myself. I’m not a violent person, I swear,” Dustin says in a rush.

“Were you having a vision?” Ronan asks, because if Dustin saw someone being attacked he might wake up feeling the need to defend himself.

“No, just a bad dream. I get them a lot. I think it’s because of the visions, though. I see so many awful things, parts of it gets stuck in there,” Dustin says. He looks a little pale, and some of his hair is matted down with sweat.
