Chapter 22

Like Brenton is pretty sure Zeke suspects Brenton isn’t straight, from things Zeke has said. But he hasn’t asked outright, so Brenton can’t be sure, and he doesn’t know how he’s given himself away if he has.

“I don’t think it’s your fault. You weren’t being stalked before you became my PA, were you?” Jamie asks.

“No. I haven’t been sent anything till today. But some of the things Brenton was sent, the notes had poetry I wrote,” Zeke admits.

“You write poetry?” Jamie asks, surprised.

“Wait, the police said our notes had poetry from a poet called Carter. Isn’t that your surname?” Jed asks, looking at Zeke.

“The police told us that, too,” Kelly says, and Penny nods.

“Same here,” Drew says, and everyone is looking at Zeke.

“That’s me. I wrote those poems,” Zeke admits. He looks like he wants the ground to open up and swallow him whole.

“Your family never told me,” Jamie frowns.

Zeke sighs. “They don’t know.”
