But Jesse didn’t let anything distract him from Foster. Foster would use any window of opportunity Jesse offered, even if it was only a few seconds. A few seconds would be enough time to bury the hurlbat in Jesse’s chest.
“Your lack of surprise only means I was right.” Foster wasn’t even paying attention to Jesse yet; his eyes were locked on Gideon. “You and that boy are idiots.”
In the space of time Jesse had looked away, Gideon had vamped out. “Jesse’s a better man than you’ll ever be.”
