Elijah snorts. “Local cops.”
Jayden stands. “I’ll head to the hospital and snoop around autopsy, then meet you guys this afternoon at the college to see the historian?”
“I’ll deal with the cops,” Joshua says. “Try to get someone to show me files. Why don’t you two boys talk to some of the families of the victims? I have the addresses. Maybe we’ll see a pattern in how they spent their last hours or some kind of connection between those dead and missing.”
“Pretend to be reporters?” Elijah asks.
“That’s what we’ve been doing. People might wonder why so many reporters are asking questions, but it’s a big story. This town’s never lost so many people at one time.” Joshua sighs.
“Let’s get started then. Everyone check-in regularly, though. This town gives me the creeps. It looks like a normal small town, but there’s something here, something evil, and I doubt it will like us snooping,” Jayden says.
“Yes, regular check-ins, and be careful,” Joshua adds.
