Chapter 22

“I’d like that. I’ll give you my number too, and if you’re free, you could text me.” Ricky smiles as he pulls out his cell phone.

They trade numbers, and Jayden puts his cell phone back into his pocket.

“I hope you get some free time while you’re in town,” Ricky says with a hopeful smile.

“Me too,” Jayden feels like an ass for using Ricky as a distraction, but he needs one. He’s felt like he was going crazy since he saw Elijah and Chogan in the forest together for the first time. He wants them both. He can’t have either of them. He can have a drink with Ricky, though.

“I should let you go, but I’ll call you.” Ricky sounds happy, and Jayden wishes he shared the enthusiasm.

“I’ll see you.” Jayden waves and waits for Ricky to leave before he rolls up his window and drives off. He grabs a burrito from a gas station, which isn’t the healthiest or tastiest, but it does the job. Then Jayden heads back to the motel.
