“What am I supposed to think? You’re sleeping with him and hitting on me. I just, I don’t know what to think.” Jayden sounds angry and confused.
“Total honesty?” Chogan offers.
Jayden nods jerkily.
“I’m in love with Elijah. I have been for a while. I’ve never told him because I’m sure he’s in love with you. It wasn’t always fun, but I’d made peace with being second-best, with knowing he was only with me as long as he couldn’t have you.” Chogan sighs.
“So why come on to me? Were you just trying to make him mad because you think he wants me? Trying to get him jealous?” Jayden asks quietly.
“No. Maybe it would be easier if it was like that. But I’m not into manipulating people. I just like you. As I said, it was almost instant. I never thought I could be in love with one person and want to get to know someone else so strongly, but I do, and it’s confusing as hell,” Chogan says as Jayden pulls into the parking lot of a bar.
