They started to move, side-stepping down the slope. She had one hand on the side oftheboard, the other grasping Mycah’s hand. There were two other skiers who skied beside them to help with the snowboard and make sure nothing happened.

One skier volunteered to ski ahead so if the snowboard slid away, he could stop it. Sonny thanked them profusely.

“I haven’t seen you on these slopes before,” Steve said, as they moved Mycah slowly, “and I’m here almost every day.”

“We’ve from around Albany, but we’ve been staying just southwest of Plattsburgh, near Shuyler Falls,” Sonny said to him as they slowly slid down the hill.

“Did you see that big castle-like building there? I’ve been looking at it for years. It looks like something from an old movie. I heard that they’re turning it into a big hotel.”

“Yes. Mycah is the architect for the project.”

“Really?” Steve was very impressed. “Then we’ve got to get her help.”
