“Of course,” the winged elf replied.

“Of course.” Arnath nodded, his dark fins twitching in excitement. “And if you choose to share an egg with him, we’d welcome you even more!”

Alec blushed in embarrassment, but Em merely shook her head in amusement and laughed.10

The next day, as Alec was escorting Em back to Anchor Rock, she paused beside the stream and sat down.

“I had so little hope before. But you helped me find my family. I can never repay you,” she confessed.

Alec replied, “You can repay me by bringing the cupid back to us so we can find a way to heal you. Come on then. The earlier we get to Anchor Rock, the safer we’ll be.”

Em paused. Taking his hand in hers, she looked him in the eyes and said, “Don’t go back to Anchor Rock ever again.”

“What? Why?” Alec asked, puzzled.
