Chapter 62

“Here goes nothing.” Gavin’s broad smile was intoxicating.

It didn’t matter how far the fall was. Josh couldn’t take his eyes off of Gavin as he rappelled down the cliff.

Four hours evaporated from the time Gavin reached Tyrone to the time the ambulance rolled up the road to the top of Burnt Mountain. According to the paramedics, the fall had dislocated Tyrone’s shoulder and twisted his knee, but nothing was broken. The parking lot at the top of the mountain was filled with cars belonging either to the rescue team or the pack members. Ned and Andrea arrived just before the ambulance did. Even Bryce and Terrence had made an appearance with the groups they had been leading, and were waiting there when the rescue team emerged from the trail.

With so much of the pack around, Josh preferred to blend into the scenery. If he was lucky, no one would even notice he was there. Instead of joining the pack, he stayed near the park personnel. Being near Gavin was just a bonus.
