“Well, Bobby doesn’t need the hassle right now after his own troubles, Jason has Zach and Kitty and Jeremy works at the hospital so he can’t be my advocate against his superiors. I’d ask Bert, but he’s going back to Cornell to finish his last year of law school. It makes sense to have someone who is closer than Ithaca, New York.”


“Won’t your parents object?” Mark asked reasonably.


“I had Jake explicitly forbid my parents from making any decisions regarding my health and welfare. My father would probably let them kill me or have me declared incompetent so he could get his hands on Gramps’ money.”


“Won’t Bobby and Jason be offended?”


“No, I told them this afternoon I was going to ask you. They said they’d help, but the ultimate decisions would be yours. Would you do this for me?”


“There have to be a hundred people more qualified than I am.”
