Chapter 27

Mark closed his eyes. Reggie said to Jason, “Make sure he rests.”

Cisco called to the nurse. “Get someone to bring a bed in here for Mr. Randall. Otherwise, he won’t stay put. He’ll be sneaking in here.”

“But I have to work…”

“Shush now,” Jason whispered. “You have disability insurance which will more than cover your bills. Stay with Reggie. You’re worse than before because you haven’t slept in three days. I should have paid closer attention to your physical state.”

“I need to know you’re all right before I can be all right,” Reggie pleaded.

Mark scowled. “That’s the second time I’ve been blackmailed today.”

“If that’s what you want to call it. I’d call it caring, but that’s just me.” Jason shrugged. Mark had enough grace to look shamefaced.

Mark let the staff put him in a hospital gown and into the bed. Greg Harris came in with the test results and handed them to Cisco.

“They produce results like greased lightning when you ask,” Greg joked.
