“Eh…I’ve got to go shower.” Mark scurried up the stairs.

When will he ever learn that he doesn’t have to sing for his supper? That was him out there with the lawnmower. He deliberately did it early so I couldn’t stop him. This nonsense ends now.

Fifteen minutes later Mark came down the stairs, his curls slicked down by the water. He went over and poured himself a mug of coffee and sat down next to Reggie.

“You’re angry…I’m sorry I woke you up. I had no idea it was so loud until after I took the headphones off.”

“What headphones?” Reggie asked exhibiting patience he didn’t quite have at the moment.

“The lawn mower came with noise canceling headphones. I figured if they came with it I ought to use them. Working in a club already abuses my ears.” Mark put in sugar and cream, something he didn’t normally do, but could afford to now.
