“And what is he doing now?”

“He was in the cafe, having a beer with Amanda.”

She threw her hands in the air. “I meant with his life. He wants to lounge around your house, but what is he doing?”

“Fighting a war in the Middle East.” Saying the words made Madoc want to throw up. Levi and war didn’t go together—at all.

“Ah…” She tilted her head. “Who is he fighting the war for?”

No. He shook his head. He would not take responsibility for Levi being in a war. He wouldn’t play with the idea of Levi doing it for him, for so much as a second.

“Don’t be stupid, Doc. What if he dies?”

“What if he does?” He was back to shouting. Madoc never shouted.
