“Wow.” Thaddeus slowly raised his left hand and ran it over Sandy’s fur. “You’re beautiful.”
Sandy was too busy panting to care what Thaddeus was doing.
“Hey, I can move.” He got to his knees. “Can you change back?”
Sandy flicked his ears, footsteps were coming closer. He bumped his head against Thaddeus’ unhurt side, wanting him to stand.
“Hey, big guy.” Thaddeus carefully fisted some of his fur, touched his ears, and patted his back. “You’re so soft.”
The footsteps were right outside now. He gave a soft whine and pushed his head against Thaddeus again.
“You want to cuddle?” Thaddeus wrapped his unhurt arm around him. Sandy wished he could’ve cuddled, but he shook Thaddeus’ arm off and turned around to face the door.
There was a jingle of keys, and Thaddeus straightened. “Someone’s coming.”
Sandy did the wolf version of an eye roll.
“Don’t look at me like that. I was distracted by the giant wolf in my circle.”
His circle? His?Wasn’t it Sandy who’d bled for that circle?
