“Then you also know that without a scent, it’s not easy to find someone. Elora is our best bet.”

Sandy wanted to object, but Thaddeus was right. If Ric and the others didn’t have a scent trail and didn’t know where Adams had been heading, they wouldn’t know where to find them.

“Fine, but I’ll be back again in a little while.”

“Thank you, honey.”

Sandy’s heart did a double beat. It was the first time Thaddeus had used an endearment, other than the ‘hon’ he didn’t remember saying right before he passed out, and he struggled to find the right words to respond with. Was a declaration of eternal love too much? He’d wanted a more romantic setting.

“Go. Now.”

Sandy swallowed the words of love and commitment that had been hovering on his tongue and walked out of the circle, heading south this time.
