“But he’s not, so let’s go.” Ric turned to head back and Sandy wanted to yell at him.
“Wait.” It was the first time Leo spoke.
“For what?” Ric’s eyes flashed blue as they bore into Leo, but Leo only shrugged and motioned at Jaecar.
Jaecar’s eyes glowed in that weird cat way and massive fangs grew out of his mouth. Sandy tried to look away because those teeth were massive.
“Sandy?”
Sandy touched his hand again and Jaecar nodded. “Sandy’s here.” The words were directed at Ric who scowled.
“You want me to believe my brother is talking to you but not to me?”
The growl had Sandy taking a step back despite knowing Jaecar couldn’t hurt him.
“Perhaps if you weren’t as thickheaded as you are, he would try to communicate with you.”
Ric snorted but looked away from Jaecar in acknowledgment of his dominance. “Where are we heading?”
Jaecar focused on Sandy, almost, again. “Where is Thad?”
Sandy rolled his eyes. “He’s strung up like a virgin sacrifice in the middle of a circle.”
