Chapter 47

“Let’s get out of the circle, and you can make me solid, and I’ll help you.” Sandy reached out as if to grab the pole, but stopped himself.

Thad nodded. “Okay, let’s go south.” He took a step and his legs almost folded. Sandy cursed next to his ear. “It’s okay. I’m okay.” He nodded to the others. “Just…a little cold, tired, and dizzy. It’ll be fine.”

Jaecar walked through Sandy to stand by his side. As Thad was about to speak, he bent and picked him up bridal style. “Hey!”

“Perhaps once we get out of the circle—” Thad shivered as they crossed the line. The wind danced like a whip over his bare skin and he shivered. “Shit, it’s cold.”

Inside the circle, the wind hadn’t reached him.
