Leo stepped out of his clothes.
“I had to beg for a shirt, and now you’re throwing your clothes off willy-nilly.” Thad stared in disbelief.
Leo shifted into a jackal. Thad had never seen a jackal in real life. He was smaller than Ric, more foxlike, with a pointier face and slimmer build.
“Okay, let’s go.” Jaecar took the lead, but they didn’t have to go many steps until a sense of unease crept up Thad’s back.
“This is it?” He glanced at Sandy.
“This is where it starts. I kept going a few more steps before I went back to tell you. If it’s like with the circle, the uneasiness will go away once you’ve crossed the line.”
