“So, I take it this was your idea, right? Trying to spook them.”

The other girl folded her arms across her chest and looked away, as Mauve glared at her.

“Maybe.”

“Looks like your plan backfired,” Lilith smiled.

Her face was rounded, dark hair parted in the middle and brushed behind her ears, lips bright with lipstick, and all they could do was stare at her. When you come from a tiny village in Wales, Eirian thought, you sometimes don’t think you’ll ever meet anyone like you. Seeing this girl before them, even though they were not the same, filled Eirian with a strange sense of awe, a need to talk about who they were, what they had been through; a need to express something, a need for someone else to understand.

Noticing Eirian’s attention, Lilith turned to them with a smirk.

“What’s up, baby queer?”
