“Maybe there isn’t anything wrong. Once the initial sickness passed this morning, I was fine the rest of the day.”

Troy clung to that hope, despite a part of him knowing it was a false hope.

As he prepared for work the next morning, Beck fixing his cape like normal, Troy was buoyed by the knowledge that Beck hadn’t puked at all that day. Maybe whatever it was really had run its course.

His good mood didn’t stop Troy from stalking the hallways of the CSA building in search of Dr. Hanssen. He wished he’d asked her what time her meeting was, then he wouldn’t have had to sneak around so much. His sotans knew something was up, he was usually very hands on with them, but he’d set them a number of theoretical exercises in the classroom, allowing him the opportunity to keep ducking out to try to catch the good doctor. Finally he spotted her in the lunchroom.

“Do your patients know you eat that?” He nodded at the half-eaten burger and fries on her plate.
