Chapter 67

“And you’re always telling us we’re a team,” Steve put in, straightening up after working on the perp.

Troy raised his hands. “Okay, yeah. Sorry. Well done. Great teamwork, guys.”

There was a chorus of, “Thanks, boss,” and, “You’re welcome, boss.”

Troy wasn’t overly comfortable about them calling him “boss.” He knew, once he told Beck about the incident, he’d be called something a lot less laudatory. “Beck!” he said in alarm. He looked at his watch. It was just after three. He breathed a sigh of relief. He wouldn’t be late for their appointment.
