“I didn’t mean to scare you.” Victor grimaced.
“You didn’t. I…why would you want my last name?”
“Because I love you.” And he loved Jian’s name.
“You’d be Victor Kouri.”
Victor smiled at him, warmth filling his chest. “And nothing would make me happier.”
Jian widened his eyes. “Are you asking me to marry you?”
The air got stuck in Victor’s throat. “I hadn’t planned to, but…”
Jian made a sound. Victor didn’t know if it was a laugh or a sob. “I’ll marry you, Vic. Any day you want.”
“Oh…” Tears rose in his eyes and he tried to swallow around the lump in his throat. “Well, I want to. So, will you marry me?”
Jian turned off the stove and dragged him up the stairs. He didn’t say one single word, but no part of Victor’s skin was left untouched, his kisses had never been more consuming, and his eyes never left Victor’s as he devoured him, body and soul. 21
